Israel is a country with many diverse ethnic groups. Immigrants from virtually every country of the world have made their home here alongside Jewish families who remained in the country. We also have various minority groups (Arabs and Bedouin, Druze, Circasians, Armenians and others), each with their own music.

During the early years of this century, Avraham Zvi Idelsohn began to collect and publish the music of many of the Jewish ethnic groups in Israel. The European-trained composers that began to arrive in Israel during the 1920's took great interest in the both the music of the various Jewish ethnic groups and the music of local Arabs and Bedouin. Israeli music today - both serious and popular - is a dynamic combination of Western and Oriental elements. Many musical cultures are practiced alongside each other in Israel, with varying levels of interaction between them.

You will find the presence of ethnic music in many places in our catalog, and at various levels of difficulty. Many of the recordings which we sell include ethnic music. Below you will find a partial listing of music that relates to the music of different traditions. Included are both arrangements of folk music and compositions that are based on or inspired by traditional music. We have chosen to organize our list by "flavor."
